Our Morning & Bedtime Routine ☀️😴

Routines!!! A word my family and I live by. It was so hard starting out as a first time mother trying to put my child on a schedule, especially coming from a somewhat chaotic household, but I always knew that I wanted structure in my home. Our most consistent routines are our morning and bedtime routines. “Little Man” hasn’t always been a routine champion though, I had to put in a lot of strict hours to get him to where he is now. For our son “structure” was exactly what he needed to get on track it would not have worked for us any other way. These are the routines we do DAILY with our son at the beginning of the day and the end of the day…

Our Morning Routine ☀️

8:25 – 9:00 am – Free Play

9:00 – 10:00 am – Breakfast Time

10:00 – 10:05 am – Brush Teeth

Our Bedtime Routine 😴

6:30 – 7:00 pm –  Bath Time

7:00 – 7:15 pm – Brush Teeth and Put on PJ’s

7:15 – 7:40 pm – Clean Up Room

7:40 – 8:00 pm – Discuss Highlights of the Day

8:00 – 8:10 pm – Go Potty and Wash Hands

8:10 – 8:40 pm – Read Bedtime Story or 2

8:40 – 8:50 pm – Say Our Prayers

8:50 – 9:00 pm –  Hug/Kiss Goodnight Turn on Night Light

9:00 pm     —       Bedtime

Free Play – Free play is when we allow him to do what he wants. He can watch TV, play on his iPad, or any of his many toys. Basically the sky’s the limit.

Structured/Outdoor Play – This time we use to play together in a learning atmosphere or if were just getting out of the house. We use this time to play indoors and learn animals, colors or shapes, or we go outdoors to the library, movies, park, or just out in the yard. This is usually a totally random choosing from himself or me.

Discussing Highlights – I always feel its important to discuss our day before he goes to bed. Sometimes I have to say things to jog his memory of something like “Hey, wasn’t it fun digging holes in the yard today” or “That movie was really silly today, what was your favorite part?”

Different Routines work for different families. ” Different Strokes for Different Folks”. There are many things that factor in how your routine runs such as… Age, Attitude, Consistency, etc. “Little Man” was not always and still is not always corporative when doing our daily routines, but I just stick to my guns and I usually win the battle.
